FLYNN, John Gerard (Sean)

After a lengthy illness, Sean Flynn, the beloved husband of Katherine Lipsett, died on July 2, 2008 in Costa Rica at age 52. He was predeceased by his father John, mother Carmel and one brother. He is survived by his wife Katherine Lipsett, two brothers and four sisters. He will be greatly missed by Ellen and John Lipsett and family. Cremation followed by a memorial gathering of friends was held in Atenas, Costa Rica.

CHARLES, Steven William Edgar "Smiley"

"Going back 2 God! Haven't had much LUCK without him!"
passed away suddenly, as a result of a motorcycle accident on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in his 36th year. Steven is the son of Suzanne Charles of Pembroke and Bill Charles (Sue Hopkins) of Deep River. Steven leaves behind a very dear and "Special" sister Stefanie from Ottawa and a future brother-in-law Brad Wilson and his very best friend - his dog Vegas. Stevan leaves behind his grandmothers Jacqueline Charron and Jean Charles of Pembroke, his aunts Michelle (Rob), Denise (Al) all of Pembroke and Peter of Oshawa. He also leaves behind his cousins Natalie, Chantal, Sylvie, Lisa, Reita, Hannah, Sarah, Deborah, Tommy, Margo and his step-brother Derek and step-sister Connie and also numerous cherished friends, all whom have touched his heart dearly. Working at CHEO had been a great part of Steven's life, which greatly touched his heart. He's always remembered those motorcycle rides for the kids. I think the "Smile was Bigger" on his face than theirs. Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest and life was very good to him, especially the memories of Indian Point (Beach). Friends called at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Deep River on Saturday at 11 am. Followed by cremation. In memoriam donations to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be gratefully appreciated.

RIENDEAU, Kelly (Hoyle)

of Deep River on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus following an illness of several weeks, at age 36. Much loved daughter of John and Barbara Riendeau of Dorval, Quebec. Mother of cherished son M.J. Hoyle of Deep River and sister of Barry Babinski of Dorval. Memorial service was held June 8th in Dorval. Burial will take place Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Thompson Hill cemetery , Renfrew, Ontario.

MYERS, Margaret

At her home after a bout with cancer on Sunday, July 6th, 2008.
Margaret Myers (nee Wagstaff) of 2 Crandall Street, Pembroke. Predeceased in 1964 by husband John L. Walley. She leaves behind her devoted daughters Dr. Virginia M. Walley, Peterborough; and Dr. Amanda C. Walley of Pembroke and Birmingham, Alabama; her husband of 35 years Dr. David K. Myers is left to mourn the death of his best friend and companion. She will also be missed by her stepson Dr. Robert C. Myers and his wife Renee Schingh, Waterloo, and their children Gabrielle, Katia and Jasmine to whom she was Grandmere Margaret. Grateful thanks to Marilyn Craig, Dr. Rosemary Gilbert and to all her other special friends who supported her during the past months, and to Community Care Access in Pembroke. At Margaret's request, cremation has taken place. Friends may gather at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew Street, Pembroke on Saturday, July 12th from noon to time of service at 2 p.m. Those who wish to do so, may make a donation to the Renfrew County Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).

Loving father of Kenneth Gilbert and his wife Pauline Blair of Whitby and Christine Harding and her husband Jurgen of Deep River. Cherished grandfather of Kerstine, Hannah and Devon Gilbert and William, Thomas and Benjamin Harding. Predeceased by a sister Lois Gilbert. Friends called at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Saturday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Memorial Service was conducted in the Chapel on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.

KNIGHT, Evelyn Gwendolyn (nee Huntley)

On June 17th, 2008 at the Ottawa General Campus Hospital, Evelyn Knight, in her 87th year, feisty to the end. Mom, Grandma, knitter extraordinaire, left us to join her beloved Bill (late William George Knight, 1999). Also predeceased by her identical twin, Velma Jeffrey (2006) and her parents, Thomas W. Huntley and Minnie L. Armour. Much-loved mother of Christopher (Heather) of Deep River and Catherine (Craig Steenburgh) of Ottawa. Proud Grandma of six beautiful young women: Stephanie Baltazar (Jonathan) of Deep River; Kathleen Promane (Barry) of Burlington, Ontario; Ainslie Bennett (Conrad) of Pembroke; Darla Knight of Ottawa; Meredith Young (Benjamin Scott) of Vancouver; and Darcie Young of Toronto. Doting Great-Grandmother ("Mama Knight", "G.G.") of Kirsten Baltazar and Joseph Bennett. A service in memory of Evelyn was held in Ottawa, Ontario. Thanks also to JC Scott for the perfect tribute: "I loved your mom; she always laughed".

Predeceased by 4 sisters, Jessie Powell, Mollie Middleton, Gertrude Shenton and Sallie Ball, and a brother Joseph Middleton. Also survived by several nieces, a nephew, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. By request there will be no visitation.
